Girls' Gaelic Football
Dear Parents,
Great to have girls football back again after a two-year absence If anyone has any questions or queries, please contact me [email protected].
Due to Covid 19, we have put a few some changes in place.
- We cannot use water bottles so I will ask all players to bring their own water bottle (clearly labelled) to the game.
- For away games, I cannot promote carpooling in this present climate, it will be each parent’s responsibility to organise how their child gets to the game and is brought home.

Girls' Football Vs St John of God Sept. 19th
St. Lachtain’s Girls’ football team are back playing football for the first time in 3 years. On Tuesday 19th September, St Lachtain’s took on St. John of God team in the GAA grounds in Freshford. It was a very sporting game and was nip and tuck throughout the first half. Both teams were naturally rusty having not played a competitive match for so long.
The St. Lachtain’s girls started to assert their dominance towards the end of the first half with Eve O'Sullivan giving it 100% throughout the half. St. Lachtain’s took the lead just on half time. Heading into the break 2:1 to 1:1
The second half started as the first half ended, up and down the field. St Lachtains defense were really on top at this stage, led by full back Lucy Dalton and Isabel Bowden. The Butler sisters Caoimhe and Niamh hassled and harassed all afternoon. Faith Long excelled at half back with her long delivery into the forwards. Midfield pairing, Kate Hickey and Nessa Gibbons, covered the field with great energy as did Aoibh Carroll when she made her appearance. Our second half pressure from Abigail O’ Kane, Muireann Flynn, Lauren Deacon and Charlotte Hussey really paid off leading to 2 great goals from Olivia Marnell.
Fantastic sporting game between the 2 teams with a victory for St. Lachtain’s NS.
St. Lachtains 3:3 St John of God 2:2
