Hi everyone,
Hope you are all keeping safe and well. Although we are all disappointed to be back here working remotely again I have no doubt that we will all do our best over the coming weeks.
You will all be familiar with how to sign up to Seesaw and how to navigate through activities etc at this stage. I hope you will join me there regularly to make use of the videos, voice recordings and activities to supplement your book based work. I also hope you will submit some photos of your work, maybe something each day that you are proud of or something you found difficult or would like help with.
If you have any questions about any work just comment under the activity and I will get back to you. Remember everything you post on Seesaw can only be seen by me unless you ask me to release it for the rest of the class.
Do your best with the work I have assigned. You should be spending about 1hour 30mins – 2 hours per day on the work and hopefully you will be able to do most of it independently now that you are in 5th Class.
Remember I am here to help you and the videos I post on Seesaw should also be of assistance, especially with your Maths. Please do keep in touch via Seesaw if possible. Your parents can also email me at [email protected].
Thank you,
Ms. Bergin

Hi everyone,
Great work last week! Hope you enjoyed some of the activities. Thanks for sharing your photos, videos and comments on Seesaw!
This week we are mixing active days with some Stem Activities and A Virtual School Tour. Again, like last week, choose an activity, or more than one each day, that you would enjoy. Keep sharing your photos and videos on Seesaw!
As we close out the school year this week I just want to thank you all for all your hard work over the last weeks and months. It hasn’t been easy for you or your parents to keep on top of your schoolwork or to stay motivated but you have all put in such a great effort, well done!
Wishing you all a lovely summer and looking forward to seeing you all back in Scoil Lachtain in September!

Hi everyone,
Put the books away and enjoy something a little different over the next few weeks! Each day there will be a selection of activities you can choose from, do one or do them all, whatever interests you!
Take some photos or videos and upload them to Seesaw, I’d love to see how everyone is getting on! I can share them with your class if you wish also – just add the comment “OK to Share” if you and your parents are happy to share it!
Enjoy!

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all keeping safe and well. Work for this week is listed below. If you can why not join me on Seesaw for some helpful Maths and Irish tutorials? You can also upload some of your work for me to see. Thanks to you all for making an effort with your schoolwork – I know it hasn’t been easy but you’ll be glad in September that you kept in touch with things! Nearly there now – then you can all hopefully enjoy a little bit more freedom during the summer!
An important addition to your work for this week is our annual Writing Competition. The theme for this year is “A Day to Remember”. Your entry can be a poem or short story. So get those thinking caps on, get your imaginations going and get writing! When you have completed and typed your entry just email it to [email protected] by Friday June 12th. Looking forward to seeing your entries!
Thank you,
Ms. Bergin

Fourth Class and Fifth Class - April 20th
Hi everyone,
I hope all is well with you and your families and that you had a nice break over Easter. We will begin to ease ourselves back into doing some schoolwork again now for the coming weeks!! I’m going to lay out the work to be done for each day as this might make it easier for you to be organised.
Give yourself about an hour to an hour and a half to complete written work each day – this can be spread out into shorter chunks of time or all at once, depending on what suits. Get plenty of exercise and fresh air also. Most of all, don’t worry or stress about schoolwork – if you are stuck with something ask Mam or Dad to send me an email and I can try to help you out. When we do get back to school we will all be working together to catch up so don’t worry about not understanding something or falling behind, this work is just to keep you in touch with school and is actually a great opportunity for you to learn to work independently – a skill you will use throughout your lives!
I’d like to use the email contact I have with your parents to give you feedback on your work as well as help you with any difficulties or questions so maybe choose something from the work you do every few days, take a photo of it or scan it in if you have the facilities and send it to me. If your Mam or Dad haven’t already done so, they might send me an email to [email protected] so I can have an email address for every family in the class.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Ms. Bergin
Ms. Bergin

4th Class:
Hi everyone,
I hope all of you are keeping safe and well. It’s a very strange time for all of us but we can
all play our part in helping to get our lives back to normal – remember – we need to pull
together by staying apart.
I’m sure the work you took home 2 weeks ago has been keeping you going, well done for
getting stuck in and keeping in touch with your schoolwork! The following are some further
suggestions to keep you moving forward and prepare yourself to return to school in the
coming weeks.
Tables Expert: P. 82-85
Handwriting: Keep going with 1 page per day – keep it neat – use this time to work on
improving your writing.
English:
In the links section of the school website you will find information about Renaissance
myON – giving you access to thousands of ebooks – so no excuses – get reading!!!
Each day on www.worldofdavidwalliams.com a new short story is read by the author
– sit back and enjoy!
We will focus on some writing activities – if you have access please try out
www.pobble365.com where a new photo is uploaded each day and has lots of really
interesting and fun activities underneath it giving you opportunities to write. Maybe
choose one or two of the activities that interest you.
Why not write a letter to our neighbours in Prague House? They would really enjoy
hearing from you as they can’t have any visitors at the moment so why not fill them
in on what you have been up to. Remember our letter writing lessons from a few
weeks ago.
Let’s Go: Read P.190-193 and do exercises B,C,D on P.194.
Maths:
Please get practising those tables! Use the Hit the Button game we have used in
school – available on www.topmarks.co.uk.
Also use topmarks.co.uk to work on some addition, subtraction, multiplication and
division games – choose some of the ones we have used in Friday groups.
Keep working on your Mathemagic: P. 67-70 if not yet completed – there are lots of
revision sums there.
Gaeilge:
Here are a list of verbs – the first 20 we had taken down already so I’ve added a few
more – keep revising them daily:
Dún – To close
Glan – To clean
Tóg – To take
Cas – To turn
Gearr – To cut
Bris – To break
Cuir – To put
Buail – To hit
Caill – To lose
Caith – To throw
Tit – To fall
Féach – To look at

Cabhraigh – To Help
Gortaigh – To hurt
Bailigh – To collect
Dúisigh – To wake up

Éirigh – To get up
If you can get access to the following website spend 10-15 mins a day working on
your Irish here: www.duolingo.com
Try to use a little bit of Irish at home everyday – just the basic words that you’ve
known since you started school and build up into using simple sentences.
SESE:
Mini-Project: do some research on a topic of your choice from History, Geography or
Science. Put together a small project – two A4 pages or open out a cereal box and stick
on the bits you write or draw to display and present to the class when we return to
school. Choose a topic that really interests you – it can be anything or anyone!!
Some ideas:
A country or city that interests you/you would like to visit.
An invention which has had a big impact on the world.
A historical era that interests you – e.g. The Vikings/The Famine/The
Plantations/World Revolutions/World War
A person from history/modern day that interests you.
A sport/pastime that you enjoy.
Any topic of your own choice.
Please keep your project safe – I’m looking forward to seeing them when we get back
to school!!
PE:
Please make sure you keep active – it’s important for the mind as well as the body!
So while this good weather lasts get outside (with your immediate family – not your
friends) and enjoy some exercise!
Also you are familiar with goNoodle from school – keep using that if you can.
Joe Wicks/The Body Coach does an online PE class each morning on his youtube
channel – great fun and the best way to wake those bodies and minds up!!
There are lots of other suggestions available in the links section of the school website
so why not choose something there that interests you also!
Most importantly for everyone – keep safe, keep healthy and don’t worry – we will
get back to normal eventually! Please listen to your parents and try to help out at
home. Aim for a few RAK’s (Random Act of Kindness) each week!!
Take care and see you all soon!
